Rethinking the online portal

At a time when YouTube was still in it's infancy, MTV asked us to help them develop a modern, digital music video portal. They were transcoding their archive of 50,000 music videos to a digital format and our goal was to make all this content easily accessible and playable online, side-by-side with all the news and other content MTV offers. The key component was a video player that could continously play while users browsed all the other content on the site, added videos to their playlists, and interacted with other users. With a sleek, black look and a very tight page grid, we were able to address all the goals and constraints and ended up with a site that was very much ahead of it's time.
